Beach Fun – I Heart Faces

Charlie’s looking up at a Coast Guard helicopter. I love the soft airiness of this picture!

Maxine on the Beach

Don’t let your eyes fool you; this is not the real Maxine!

Don’t know who Maxine is?

She’s the funny old crabby lady who always wears shades and has quite the attitude.

I saw “her” at the beach and could not get over the resemblance.

Check it out for yourself. Click here!

Summer is Coming to an End – Activities that kept us busy during the Summer of 2010

I must start this out by saying this summer has been very tame, not lame, but tame. We didn’t even go to the ocean once.

Wait. Can we have a do-over here? I don’t want the whole summer back,
just maybe a few days to go to the beach.

Anyway, here are some of the activities we did over the
summer and are in no particular order.
1. Swim team. What a commitment! Five morning practices a week, two nighttime swim meets a week and one nighttime clinic a week is a tremendous commitment for parents and children alike. Even with that though, it has been by far the best sport either boy has ever competed in, and that’s actually saying a lot since between the two of them they’ve done at least one season of soccer, basketball, football and baseball.

2. The boys both have birthdays in July. Summer birthday parties are though. So many people are gone or are busy that we decided to do something different. They each got to invite a friend to the water park in Charleston.

3. We spent a good bit of time at Lake Murray this summer. We frequented the Dam beach (you KNOW there’s some funny jokes about that!) and went out of a friend’s boat. I think I mentioned my desire for owning a boat? There’s just something so peaceful and stress-relieving about floating in deep water.

3. VBS was just as great this summer as it has been the last five summers.

4. Lots and lots of slip-n-sliding was done. It has been so gosh darn hot that if you’re outside you have to be in the water in some way, shape or form.

5. What in the world we do with our summer if we did not have a neighborhood pool? I really, really, really cannot even an imagine a summer here without it.

6. Both of the boys participated and completed the summer reading program at the library. Now if they only had a summer writing program!

I know there’s more, but my brain has about had it this summer. Is it wrong to say that I’m glad that school’s right around the corner?

Surprise - I Heart Faces

My mom and aunt might kill me if they see this here...they would be very "surprised" that I picked this pretty awful photo of us after a long day at the beach looking surprised!

Purple Rain?

Maybe he’s looking up at the sky and waiting for the purple rain to start falling.
Maybe I just don’t know what to write so I borrowed a song title that I love.
What he’s really doing is resting on a purple towel in between his swim team events.
And just maybe he’ll catch a glimpse of some purple rain.

Arrghh Mateys!

“Over My Head” is the theme at I Heart Faces this week. This picture spoke to me. It has a human face (well skull, but that counts, right?) and something over the head. Maybe I interpreted this theme too literally.

As always, for some out of this world photographs, head on over to I Heart Faces now!

Who Wants a Boat? I Do! I Do!

I want a boat.
We enjoyed a spectacular day on the lake with friends to celebrate a seventh birthday.
I want a pontoon boat.
My camera is on its last leg thanks to a run-in with the cement, but here are a few shots of the fun day.
Did I mention I want a boat?

I really want a boat. It was so much fun and so pretty.
