Project Pinterest: Food

Okay. I have to come clean here.

Confession time right now.

Are you ready for the news?

 It's big people, really big.

I have barely picked up my camera at all this week. I don't know why I haven't, I just haven't. Some weeks are like that I guess. I didn't even complete my 29 Days with Chewbacca. Nothing bad (or good) is going on here, so there's really no reason I haven't picked up my camera.

Have no fear though, I'm still going to share with you a few things I found inspiring on Pinterest this week and recreated them.

I made cheesy garlic bread from Lauren's Latest blog and it was A-MAZING! It got RAVE REVIEWS from the family. Of course it would because it's cheese and it's garlic and it was bread, but it was really TASTY! You MUST try this recipe this week. Seriously, it was that tasty!

I also made Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches from the Favorite Family Recipes blog and again, they were A-MAZING! Believe it or not, there was not even one complaint from any family member about these deelish sandwiches! They will be a staple here, for sure!

Since apparently I'm on a food kick, I'll tell you that I tried a version of this recipe with grape soda and it was DISGUSTING!!! Believe me, if there is cake around, I will eat it. This cake has been sitting in the refrigerator for days and NO ONE will even eat it. It's actually quite surprising how gross the grape cake tastes. I thought it would be refreshing, but it was just a horrible, horrible dessert. Mark my words, never again will I ever say "horrible" and "dessert" again in the same sentence!

So, that's all from my lame week. Next week I'll be back on my A(-) game!

Here are the guidelines for Project Pinterest:
1. Decide which pin on Pinterest you’d like to recreate.
2. Create it!
3. Flop or success, create a blog post about your re-do and include the original pin’s url.
4. Add the Project Pinterest button to your post so others can join in too!
5. Link up and check out other bloggers’ posts!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

I really love Ashley’s SHS. I look forward to it all week! Here are my interpretations for the week.
Glimpse
This is a glimpse of the beauty of Virginia Hylton park. We have loved this park from the day we moved to SC over seven years ago. It’s a park that has grown with us. It served us well when the boys were just toddlers and offers great exploration opportunities for the boys now.

Crossed
This is the little creek at the afore mentioned park. The fun used to be the play structures; now the fun is seeing who can cross the creek without touching the water.

Handwritten
This is handwritten in the fact that it is writing and it’s made by hand. For the complete word string art tutorial, see this Project Pinterest post.

Bliss
A few nights ago the four of us were getting pretty antsy at home. We decided to head to Gibson Pond Park to watch the sunset and play a bit. We all sat on a swinging bench to absorb all of God’s beauty around us. It was truly bliss!

Project Pinterest: String Word Art

I pinned the string word art idea from the Honey and Fitz blog. It was so beautiful! I knew I couldn’t compete, but thought I’d give it a shot. I didn’t follow her wonderful directions very well and substituted a lot of things. Probably the reason hers turned out beautifully and mine, not so much.

I didn’t want to use a piece of wood because anything I ever make with wood I never get it on the wall because that means I have to find a stud finder and who likes all those extra steps anyway? So, I painted a sturdy box instead. Then put a piece of paper on it and wrote our last name in a large bubble font. I then used 1” nails and gently pushed them in over the paper.

Then I carefully took off the paper and wrapped the embroidery floss all willy-nilly around the nails. It turned out HORRIBLY! I take 100% responsibility for that though. I didn’t take my time. I am so not a detail person and this is detailed project.

What I did get though, was something interesting to take pictures of. That’s more my style!

Of course Chewbacca had to get in on the action too. He got all sorts of tangled in the pink string. Poor guy. His probably would’ve looked about as good as mine!

29 Days with Chewbacca: Doing the Splits

Chewbacca likes to show off.  He was taunting me about my inability to do the splits. Glad the month is more than half over. Chewie is getting on my nerves.

Project Pinterest: Easy Saltine Cracker Toffee Recipe

I LOVE easy. I love chocolate! I love recipes whose ingredients I always have on hand. So, it's no wonder that  this recipe is a new favorite of mine! I found the recipe on The Girl Who Ate Everything blog and pinned it immediately! Who wouldn't LOVE these toffee bars?

Tip

29 Days with Chewbacca: In Neon

Chewie was feeling a little wild and crazy and wanted his picture taken (or made, as we say in the South) in the cupboard. The lighting was so bad that I told him I needed to "pretty up" his picture. He requested to be in neon lights. I was happy to oblige.

Project Pinterest: Coffee Filter Wreath

I fell in love with this coffee filter wreath right when I saw it and knew I wanted to make one. Click on picture to go to its original link.

Here is my springy version. It was so easy too! Basically, you mix paint and water. Put coffee filters in the mixture. Squeeze excess water off and let them dry. Crinkle them up two at a time to make a "flower". Make a wreath backing out of a cardboard box. Hot glue each "flower" onto the cardboard.
