Snow in South Carolina!

Finally, the weathermen got it right! This has been about the fifth warning of wintery weather we've gotten so far this winter, yet it's the first (and most certainly) the last snow fall of the season. For a couple of Southern boys and their Yankee parents, it was a real treat!

It started on our way to pick up our foster pup, Chloe. While in the van we could see a flake or two float from the sky to our windshield. The excitement was nearly tangible! When we arrived home, Charlie went straight for the deck to start his snowball. Well, not exactly. I forgot that we went to Taco Bell's drive thru, but the sauce on Charlie's face reminded me that we did that before we came home.

You can tell that Ryan was beyond happy to actually be feeling snow on his face! His eyes just have that twinkle in them.

Of course Kurt had to get in on the action. He might just be the biggest kid of the three of them. Snow has super powers. It makes him quickly revert to his childhood days of playing for endless hours in the snow. It's fun for us to reminisce about our snow days as kids. The boys just cannot fathom that we used to have enough snow to make actual snow forts or that they snow would last for months and not just seemingly disappear the next day.

Let the snow ball fight continue....

They sled down the hill on wake boards (generally used at the beach!) and cardboard football guy cutouts.

Kurt was truly happy in the snow.

Next came some generous portions of hot chocolate with marshmallows. After that we sat down to watch the Olympic opening ceremony. Not for long though because the power went out. It was out for about four hours. So we just went to bed.

The boys awoke with the sun. For the sake of the neighbors' sanity, we made them wait until 7:30 AM to go outside and play. The sun wasn't even fully out in this picture.

I had forgotten just how bright the reflection of the sun off the snow is.

And, how pretty nature looks covered in ice and snow.

I'd have to say that as long as we waited for this day, it went by too fast.
