Project Pinterest: Gross Grease Solution

I HATE the grease that bacon and hamburger leave behind. I used to strain or pour the grease into a tin can if I had one available. The problem is that I don't use a lot of canned goods so there have been many times where I haven't had a can available to use. I've done many ridiculous things like waiting for the grease to solidify and scrape it out in the trash. In the process I'd get it on me and I was never happy about that.

I just saw that I pinned this 11 weeks ago. Back then (yeah, waaaayyy back then) I didn't check to make sure what I was pinning came from an original link. I just tried to trace this one back and can't find the original post. So, I can't give credit to anyone.

Here's my bacon grease. I like to broil bacon. I used a chipped bowl and put tin foil gently into the bowl, being careful so that the foil didn't rip.

Then I put it in the freezer and took out the tin foil ball in the Thursday's trash!

What did you do this week?

Here are the guidelines for Project Pinterest:

1. Decide which pin on Pinterest you’d like to recreate.
2. Create it!
3. Flop or success, create a blog post about your re-do and include the original pin’s url.
4. Add the Project Pinterest button to your post so others can join in too!
5. Link up and check out other bloggers’ posts!

It's on the Tip of My Tongue

This week I chose Mindie from Bacon Time with the Hungry Hypo because of her delicious looks s'mores cocktails! I'll email you your "Ive Been Featured on Project Pinterest" button!

  1. Great tip. I always use a can -- but this is a good back-up plan! No project this week for me -- but I'm planning to try a pinterest recipe this weekend... so I might let you know about that one next week. Have a great day Sarah!

  2. That's a good tip. We have a place to put grease at our recycle collection area. I pour mine in pickle jars and then let the guys handle it when it's time to take the trash off.

  5. This is a great idea! I've done the can thing, but on occasion, when I've been desperate...I've just dumped it in the trash. I know you aren't supposed to, but I'm not sure why you aren't supposed to, so I didn't think too much of it at the time! Although after, my fiance told me that's a really bad thing to do (still not sure why!) so next time I make bacon (which will be tomorrow night for breakfast-dinner) I'm trying this out!

  6. i love cans for putting my paintbrushes. i would use this idea for grease too when i have one handy. the tin foil is not a bad idea. my mom bags up her raw meat then freezes it until garbage day so her garbage doesn't smell extra bad w/ that chicken.
