This week is a little different. OK, a lot different. I didn't do anything this week. I gave up Dt. Mt. Dew last week. For most, that might not be a big deal, but for me, it's huge. I've been drinking it every day for the past 20-some years. I wanted to take a small step toward less artificial food. This was my step. It's been HELL! I cannot get over this horrible headache. I'm very frustrated. It's been 11 days and I feel miserable. I'm drinking a ton of water and just wishing I would feel well.
Anyway, there is no Project Pinterest (or anything else) this week. Ugh!
Sarah:)
OH HoneyGirl -- good for you. That is such a challenge to yourself when you've been drinking it for so long. We are creatures of habit, aren't we? But water! Hurray - that's wonderful. I tell myself my TEA-THAT-I-DRINK-ALL-DAY has water in it, but I know that's not the same, and I could be doing much better at drinking more water. You have challenged me! Keep up the good work, and I hope you're feeling like yourself very soon. (hugs) ~Sally
ReplyDeleteGood for you! Well, not good that you feel so badly. Caffeine-free Diet Mountain Dew is my all time favorite drink. I have weaned myself off of them though and mainly drink water now. It's tough, but worth it.
ReplyDeleteHang in there! I have been a huge diet soda drinker all my life. Last summer I decided to give it up. It lasted a couple weeks and then I was right back in there.
ReplyDeleteBut in January I gave it up again after reading horrible horrible things about aspartame. I've also been losing weight and slowly trying to get artificial foods out of my diet, like you. I've even quit caffeine recently as I realized it was actually making me more tired.
IT GETS EASIER! I used to not be able to eat anything without some soda to wash it down. I thought I couldn't live without it. But I don't miss it anymore.
Stick with it! It'll get better!
Check the ingrediants, sounds like your addicted to something in it and you are going through withdrawals, happens to me when I try to stop drinking ice tea, hang in there, it's got to get better!
ReplyDeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry you're having a tough time...it will get better. I'm an ER nurse, so I can tell you what causes the headaches. Mtn Dew is LOADED with caffeine. Any withdrawal will cause boomerang headaches. You can substitute with a little coffee, but the best thing you can do is what you're already doing. Lots of water. If the headaches get to be too much, get something in your tummy and take some Tylenol or Advil. Also, if you eat something as soon as you get up, then take a mild pain reliever, it will ward off the headaches all together. All this will subside in about another week. Good luck. Stick with it. I commend you for your decision!
Hugs,
Cissy
