Every year there is a nighttime Christmas parade in town. I was so excited to take some cool pictures of the lights on the floats.
But, what I really learned is that I need a good tutorial on how to take nighttime photos of lights (or anything). Do you have a good tutorial you could recommend to me?
Sarah:)
Very cool shot.
ReplyDeleteThat is cool. No tips here. Sorry. I tried to take parade photos too and they turned out bad.
ReplyDeleteI like the photo but can appreciate it's not the photo you hoped for! I have no tips I'm afraid as it's something I need to work on too.
ReplyDeleteI think this turned out very cool! I would say you probably need a tripod, but who wants to take a tripod to a parade? Just be glad you didn't do what I did. Took my camera to the Christmas lights parade and there was no memory card in it!
ReplyDeleteI only have a point and shoot, and it doesn't do too well at night.

I am so bad at night photography...but I do love that shot.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I could say is that you have to have a tripod
Oh..I have a bunch of the same kind of shot!!! I, too, was asked to take photos of our town's annual light parade! It was for the regional paper, too. Oops! Lots of colorful waves, just like yours. I went out after the parade and photographed the floats when they were parked. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure you need a good tutorial because that is a pretty awesome shot! But yeah, I know what you mean. Like others I think the tripod is the key, but I've only taken one or two night shots I like out of many, many attempts. If you find a good tutorial please share it with us!
ReplyDeleteWow, love it! I'm not very good at night photography, but then the only times I've really done it is at a well lit soccer game.... Use fast shutter speeds! :-)
ReplyDeleteHoly smokes this is cool!!!
ReplyDeleteAh, love the light designs. I have some "accidental" shots like that that ended up being some of my favorites!
ReplyDeleteVery colorful and cool!

I like this, I think a special flash would be what you are looking for, for night shots with light to come out. :)
ReplyDeleteThat is an awesome photo!!! You could try a hot shoe flash, but you'll definitely need a tripod due to the slow shutter speeds after dark!
ReplyDeleteI think that it captures the excitement of the parade. Great shot!
ReplyDeleteOh my, I LOVE this! It's like a curtain of lights!
